Our Founder's Story

The roots of DAAR run deep in personal experience and a lifelong commitment to compassionate care. For our founder, Asha Abdulla, the journey began in childhood, watching her mother and family provide devoted care to her aunt, who lived with cerebral palsy and paraplegia. These early experiences shaped her understanding of both the challenges and beauty of providing dedicated care to loved ones with special needs.

"I witnessed firsthand the overwhelming love and dedication required to provide quality care," Asha recalls. "But I also saw the struggles caregivers face and the critical importance of maintaining dignity in care relationships."

A Legacy of Care

Asha's path to founding DAAR was further shaped by her experience as a caregiver for her father, who battled Parkinson's disease for many years. From 2001 to 2011, she was an integral part of his care team, an experience that would become the cornerstone of DAAR's philosophy.

"My father's journey showed me the profound difference between care given with genuine love and respect, versus care lacking empathy and compassion," Asha shares. "Through proper nutrition, exercise, and most importantly, care that preserved his dignity and independence, we were able to help him maintain his quality of life until the end."
